Special Occasions

In addition to regular church services, we ring to mark seasonal feasts and events, including Christmas, New Year, Easter and Remembrance Sunday (when we ring half-muffled).

We sometimes ring quarter peals to honour specific local people, and full peals to mark significant national events such as the Golden, Diamond and Platinum Jubilees of Queen Elizabeth II in 2002, 2012 and 2022.

On 10th April 2021 our tenor bell rang out 99 times to mark the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh. and a week later it tolled again for his funeral.

In 2022 we rang quarter peals to mark the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession on 6th February and as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations on 5th June. We also sounded the bells on the day of Her Majesty’s funeral on 19th September.

You can find a list of our peals, quarter peals and other notable performances on our BellBoard page at Ringing World.

A church wedding isn’t complete without the sound of bells to accompany the happy couple as they process down the aisle. Cumnor Bell Ringers can provide their services for a modest fee. If you would like us to ring at your wedding, please contact the Parish Office: 01865 861541 or office@cumnor.org

Cumnor bells can also be rung for individual funerals. To make arrangements, please contact the Parish Office as above.
